FISH OUTTA WATER

2021 - CURRENT

The large-scale monotypes in "Fish Outta Water"  imagine near-futures as a response to eco-anxiety. The work is symbolic. Are the figures delaying, denying, picking flowers when they’re in the middle of a crisis? Or are they saving what they can, while they can, to build something in the future?

Anxiety forces one to be in the present, and try to predict what lies ahead. It is imperfect and susceptible to flawed conclusions but it can also spur action and creative solutions. These are the contradictions this series explores.
